Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

The short version

This Privacy Policy explains how Areena Player ("the app", "we", "us") handles information across all versions — iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Android, Android TV, Windows, and the web app.

Areena Player is a generic IPTV / media player. It does not provide, host, sell, or recommend any channels, movies, or other content. You supply your own sources by adding an M3U playlist (URL or local file) or by signing in to an Xtream Codes account that you already have with a third-party provider.

Your use of the app is also subject to our Terms of Use & Legal Disclaimer, which explain that Areena Player supplies no content and that you are responsible for the sources you add.

📱 Information that stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to us or to any server we control:

This data exists only to make the app work for you. Deleting a playlist, or uninstalling the app, removes it.

🐞 Information we process

Crash & error diagnostics

If the app crashes or hits a serious error, we use Sentry (a crash-reporting service) to receive a diagnostic report so we can find and fix the problem. A report may include your device model, operating system version, the app version, and technical details of the error such as a stack trace.

Crash reports do not include your playlists, your Xtream username or password, or the content you watch.

🚫 What we never do

🖼️ Photo library permission

On iOS you may see a photo-library permission prompt. Areena Player requests it only so you can pick a local .m3u playlist file to import when you choose "add from file". The app does not browse, read, scan, or upload your photos.

📡 Streaming and your provider

When you play a channel, movie, or series, your device connects directly to the playlist or Xtream service that you configured. We are not the source of that content, and we do not proxy, monitor, or receive that traffic.

Your IPTV provider may collect information (such as your IP address or viewing activity) under their own privacy policy. That relationship is between you and your provider — please review their terms.

🤝 Third-party services

🔒 Security

Xtream credentials are stored using your operating system's secure storage. Connections use HTTPS whenever your provider supports it; note that many IPTV providers only offer plain HTTP, in which case the connection is not encrypted — that is a property of the provider, not of the app.

👶 Children's privacy

Areena Player is rated for users 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

🗂️ Data retention & your control

Data stored on your device remains until you delete the relevant playlist or uninstall the app. Crash reports are retained by Sentry according to their standard retention period and then deleted. Because we do not hold your personal data on our own servers, there is no account for us to delete.

📝 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted within the app or on this page.
